Since July 22, the Chamber of Commerce of Machinery and Electronics has organized more than 40 business representatives from nearly 30 companies to visit the United States with Wang Chao, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Commerce. The delegation led by President Zhang Yujing has visited San Francisco and Chicago respectively, and carried out a number of exchange activities on promoting two-way investment by Chinese and American companies, participating in the construction of US infrastructure, and strengthening economic and trade exchanges, and achieved positive results. .
1. Successfully held Sino-U.S. provincial-state economic and trade cooperation seminars and corporate counterpart exchanges in Chicago
On July 25, co-sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of China and the City of Chicago, the Chamber of Commerce of Electrical and Mechanical Services and the Chicago Investment Promotion Bureau jointly hosted the Sino-US Provincial-State Economic and Trade Cooperation Seminar successfully held in Chicago, Illinois. The theme of the seminar was "Consolidate the foundation of cooperation, seek opportunities for cooperation, and explore new competitive advantages." Vice Minister Wang Chao of the Ministry of Commerce and Vice Mayor Mark Anguson of Chicago attended the seminar and delivered important speeches. More than 200 people attended the seminar, Minister He Ning of the Chinese Embassy in the United States, Consul General Yang Guoqiang of the Chinese Consulate in Chicago, and representatives of the business community from both sides.
Chairman Zhang Yujing of the Chamber of Commerce of Commerce and Industry gave an opening speech at the seminar. He expressed his gratitude and welcome to the support and participation of the US government and enterprises. Chairman Zhang introduced the basic situation of the delegation, the purpose of the visit to the United States, and the key areas to be investigated. He put forward relevant suggestions on promoting economic and trade exchanges, two-way investment and infrastructure construction cooperation between enterprises of both sides, and emphasized that the Chamber of Commerce will fully expand its services. Ability to further promote the cooperation between Chinese and American companies in the above-mentioned fields.
Vice Minister Wang Chao delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony. He pointed out that in order to implement the initiative to strengthen provincial-state cooperation during Vice President Xi Jinping’s visit to the United States in February, to promote practical cooperation between China and Chicago in various fields such as infrastructure. The Ministry of Commerce sent a delegation of nearly 100 people to the United States to carry out related work. Vice Minister Wang Chao emphasized that, as an important transportation hub in the United States and the birthplace of modern manufacturing, Chicago’s good investment environment has attracted many Chinese companies, and Chicago’s infrastructure projects have also attracted the attention of many Chinese companies. The two sides should seek to deepen cooperation. Complementary advantages, and ultimately achieve a win-win result.
At the opening ceremony, Deputy Mayor Mark Angerson welcomed the delegation led by Vice Minister Wang Chao to visit Chicago. At the same time, he focused on introducing the "7 billion reconstruction of Chicago" project proposed by Mayor Emanuel, showing Chicago's sincerity in attracting foreign investment to participate in its infrastructure construction, and it hopes that Chinese companies can actively participate in this plan.
After the opening ceremony, under the witness of Vice Minister Wang Chao, Vice Mayor Mark Anguson of Chicago and other guests, Chairman Zhang Yujing of our Association and Chairman Rita Artas of the China Merchants Bureau of Chicago signed a memorandum of understanding for both parties. The joint promotion of trade and investment cooperation between Chinese and American companies in related fields has laid a solid foundation. The Investment Promotion Bureau also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Chicago Investment Promotion Bureau.
During the meeting, 12 representatives from the government and enterprises, including the Acting Director of the Illinois Department of Commerce, the Director of the Chicago Investment Promotion Bureau, the Chief Financial Officer of the Chicago City Government, and the Cooperation Department, Foreign Investment Department and Wanxiang Group of the Ministry of Commerce delivered speeches. The conference conducted in-depth discussions on infrastructure investment and two-way investment, and carried out active activities with on-site audiences, and achieved positive results.
After the seminar, Chinese and American companies were divided into three groups: trade, investment and infrastructure to conduct counterpart exchange activities. 80 Chinese business representatives exchanged views with nearly a hundred representatives from the United States from infrastructure, machinery manufacturing, information technology, logistics, finance and insurance and other service industries. The activities laid a good foundation for deepening understanding and promoting cooperation between enterprises.
2. Participate in cooperation seminars in San Francisco to promote corporate exchanges
On the morning of July 24th, a delegation from the Chamber of Commerce of Electrical and Mechanical Services participated in the "Sino-U.S. Provincial-State Economic and Trade Cooperation Seminar" in San Francisco, California. With the theme of "sharing development advantages and deepening mutually beneficial cooperation", the seminar was co-sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, the California State Government and the San Francisco City Government. Vice Minister Wang Chao, Chinese Consul General in San Francisco Gao Zhansheng, California Deputy Governor Newsom and San Francisco Mayor Li Mengxian of the city attended the meeting and delivered speeches respectively. The meeting also invited leaders of relevant departments and bureaus of the Ministry of Commerce, relevant industry organizations and business representatives to give speeches on China-US economic and trade policies and the promotion of deepening cooperation between enterprises, and arranged for Sino-US enterprises to conduct counterpart exchanges by industry. This seminar played a positive role in the development of pragmatic cooperation between China and the United States between the provinces and states, and promoted the investment exchanges and economic development of the companies of both parties.
In addition, the group visited and inspected related companies in Chicago and San Francisco. The group visited the Jadine water purification plant, the largest in North America, in Chicago, and the well-known software company Autodesk in San Francisco.
