The main consumable of a laser printer is a toner cartridge (some people also call it a toner cartridge, and some people call the photosensitive drum a toner cartridge). It is the heart of the printer. Of the 7 processes of printing, 5 of them are carried out around the toner cartridge. The quality of the print is largely determined by the quality of the toner cartridge. Different types of toner cartridges have different structures, but their working principles are basically the same.
Since most of the toner cartridges of laser printers are imported, the price is more expensive. According to statistics, my country imports more than 5-8 million toner cartridges each year, which would cost hundreds of millions of dollars. In addition, when replacing toner cartridges, so many old toner cartridges have to be discarded every year, causing environmental pollution. In recent years, foreign countries have begun to promote the recycling of toner cartridges, which not only reduces environmental pollution and saves energy, but also saves considerable funds. my country (such as Guangdong Zhuhai Tianwei Printer Consumables Manufactory) has also begun to produce laser printer toner cartridges, most of which are recycled products, and the print quality is no less than that of similar imported toner cartridges. In the future, toner cartridge regeneration may become a hot industry.
When the toner in a new toner cartridge is used up, other parts in the toner cartridge may not be damaged (such as photosensitive drum, magnetic roller, scraper, etc.). As long as the components are cleaned and filled with new toner, you can continue to use it, but the print quality may decrease slightly. As for the general requirements, the samples are completely satisfied. Under normal circumstances, a new toner cartridge can be refilled and used for 2 to 3 times.
The so-called toner cartridge regeneration is to replace the above parts after the powder is used for 2 to 3 times and the photosensitive drum, magnetic roller, and scraper are worn out. This kind of recycled toner cartridge can be used for 2 to 3 cycles, which is very cost-effective for users, which can save more than two-thirds of the funds.
The regeneration of the toner cartridge is a high-tech work, and cannot be understood as a simple powder cartridge filling. During the regeneration process, it is necessary to fully understand the internal structure and component functions of the toner cartridge. By observing the printed test samples, determine which factors are causing the print quality defects, which components are caused by these factors, and observe the degree of wear of the components to determine which components should be replaced . A good recycled toner cartridge should have a print quality close to the printing standard of the original toner cartridge. Next, let's first understand the structure and function of the toner cartridge.
1. The structure of the toner cartridge and the function of its components
Different laser printer models have different structure of the toner cartridge. Most models use an integrated structure of the toner cartridge, and some models use a drum and powder separation structure. Regardless of the structure, their working principles are basically the same. The powder box structure can be roughly divided into two parts, namely the imaging part and the powder supply part. The following takes HP 6L as an example to introduce the structure of the toner cartridge and the functions of the main components.
1. Function of imaging part
Photosensitive drum: It is made of selenium plating on the surface of aluminum alloy cylinder. The selenium material is an insulator in the dark, and the exposed part is a conductor. After the light beam emitted by the laser transmitter exposes it, the exposed dots form an information lattice to form an electrostatic latent image.
Drum transmission gear: It is fixed to one end of the photosensitive drum, and the printer transmits power to drive the photosensitive drum to rotate and at the same time drive the transfer roller to rotate.
Drum discharging reed: The charge on the surface of the photosensitive drum is exposed to the ground and discharged by the discharging reed through the photosensitive drum shaft pin (discharge electrode).
Drum flange: The support plate at the other end of the photosensitive drum.
Charging roller: A conductive sponge is wrapped around the conductive shaft, and the outermost is an ionization film. The charging high voltage is discharged through the conductive support and the conductive shaft, and the photosensitive drum is charged by the ionization membrane. The ionization membrane is aging and cracked, so it can no longer be used.
Drum cleaning blade: Used to clean the residual toner on the surface of the photosensitive drum that has not been completely transferred to the substrate, and collect the residual toner in the waste toner bin to provide a clean photosensitive drum for the second printing cycle.
Protection baffle: When the toner cartridge assembly is taken out from the printer, the baffle will automatically close to protect the photosensitive drum from damage.
Drum pin: It is the support at both ends of the photosensitive drum, one of which is in contact with the dissipating reed of the photosensitive drum and serves as a dissipating electrode.
Drum joint pin: The fixed pin that joins the two parts of the toner cartridge assembly.
Charging roller support: the support at both ends of the charging roller, the black one is made of conductive material, and is connected to the high-voltage charging circuit to provide high-voltage charging for the charging roller.
Toner Cartridge Shell: The shell of the toner cartridge assembly.
Waste toner bin: stores the residual waste toner removed by the scraper.
Waste toner file: Prevent the waste toner from the waste toner bin from overflowing, destroying the printing quality and polluting the inside of the printer.
2. The function of the powder supply parts
Magnetic roller spacer: There is one at each end of the magnetic roller, and its function is to control the gap between the photosensitive drum and the magnetic roller for toner development.
Permanent magnetic core: The permanent magnetic core is made of magnetic ferrite and is installed in the magnetic roller sleeve. It is fixed in the middle of the aluminum sleeve and does not rotate. When the magnetic roller sleeve carries the toner and rotates to the "N" pole of the permanent magnetic core, it magnetizes the toner to form a toner mist (magnetic spike).
Developing bias contact: The magnetic roller is provided with a developing voltage through the bias electrode.
Magnetic roller cover: The magnetic roller is an important part of the toner. The surface of the aluminum sleeve is sprayed with graphite to increase the surface tension of the magnetic roller, better carry the toner, and also help the toner adsorb to the surface of the photosensitive drum (some machines The model is made of magnetic rubber).
Support: The support at both ends of the magnetic roller.
Magnetic roller gear: It engages with the photosensitive drum to realize the same rotation.
Sealing strip: To facilitate the storage of toner in the toner cartridge, the sealing strip should be pulled out before use.
Bias electrode: It has two functions. One is to apply a developing bias to the magnetic roller through it, and the other is to fix the "N" pole of the permanent magnetic core at a position tangent to the photosensitive drum.
Powder compartment cover: Sealing cover for ink filling port.
Sealing felt: Seal the two ends of the magnetic roller to prevent the toner from overflowing along the two ends of the magnetic roller and contaminating the printer.
Agitator gear: Rotation drives the agitator to stir evenly and push the toner.
Magnetic roller scraper: The magnetic roller scraper is made of urethane resin, and the friction between it and the magnetic roller is used to uniformly add toner to the surface of the magnetic roller without excessive toner and isolate it from other impurities.
Toner silo: a place where toner is stored.
Transmission gear: The power transmission of each part of the powder supply bin.
Powder bin head: Fix the powder bin parts and connect with the imaging part.
2. Matters needing attention when regenerating the toner cartridge
Laser printer toner cartridge regeneration is a very delicate task. It requires the operator to master the working principle of the printer toner cartridge, the role of each component, and the technical performance indicators of different models. The technician should judge the usage of the toner cartridge and the degree of wear of the components based on the printed test page. Recycled toner cartridges are not simply adding toner. Whether the print quality can meet the requirements for use after regeneration is critical. The print quality of the toner cartridge regenerated by excellent technicians is almost the same as that of the new toner cartridge. Of course, to master this technology, more learning and accumulation of practice are needed.
Precautions for recycled toner cartridges generally include:
When disassembling the toner cartridge, the action should be light to prevent damage, missing parts and toner contamination;
Do not use solvents and sharp tools to clean the photosensitive drum and charging roller;
Do not damage or tear off the sealing sponge and sealing felt to make them lose the sealing effect;
The photosensitive drum should be carefully stored after being removed, and cannot be placed under strong light;
If the photosensitive drum scraper and magnetic roller scraper are damaged or aging, they should be replaced in time;
Pay attention to the lubrication of the photosensitive drum, otherwise, the service life of the drum core will be greatly shortened after replacement;
Keep the conductive contacts of all parts in good contact without deformation;
The parts of the regenerated toner cartridge should run smoothly and have low resistance.
Generally use tools and toner during operation:
pointed-nose pliers, diagonal pliers, self-made special pliers;
Phillips screwdriver, flat-blade screwdriver, preferably magnetic;
vacuum cleaner, hair dryer, universal glue;
Clean cotton, alcohol, brush, powder filling funnel.
The toner used in laser printers must be used according to the model. Different types of printers, toner can not be used mutually, so as not to affect the print quality. The toner used in laser printers can be divided into two types: carrier-free and carrier-free. Generally, the powder cartridges with magnetic roller, magnetic powder carrier, powder carrier and colloidal scraper structure all use toner with carrier. Such as HP series, Canon series and other printers.
The toner cartridges with rubber roller loaded powder and steel scraper structure are mostly non-carrier toner. Such as Epson 5500K, 5700, Panasonic 6300, 6500, NEC660, 860, 870, Lenovo LJ6L, LJ6P and other models.
